The program teaches students
- to see the victims as heirs of a thousand-year-old European Jewish civilization
- to see the Holocaust as the culminaion of centuries of antisemitic and racist agitation
- to understand issues of Jewish-non-Jewish relations during and after the Holocaust
- to understand issues of post-Holocaust response, memory and memorialization.
The program also teaches educators to develop age-appropriate approaches for teaching the Holocaust in the classroom.
The program offers a Certificate in Holocaust Studies granted upon completion of 18 credits (six courses) which may be taken on-campus or online.
